From BER Airport
From the City Centre
The railway part of Alexanderplatz is on the viaduct, under an arched glass hall. Regional trains and S-Bahn trains use the platforms up there; the station hall and shops are at street level below.
The three U-Bahn lines are underground. The U2, U5 and U8 platforms are on different levels and in different directions, linked by a network of passages. Follow the line number and its colour on the signs, and allow a few extra minutes for a change between U-Bahn lines.
The square around the station is large. Agree on a clear meeting point, such as the World Clock, if you are meeting someone.

Not until 12 December 2026. While the Stadtbahn is rebuilt, only the S-Bahn and the U-Bahn lines U2, U5 and U8 stop here.
DB Information at Alexanderplatz is open every day, including public holidays, from 06:30 to 22:00. There is also an S-Bahn customer centre.
Take the U5 directly, or any S-Bahn heading west (S3, S5, S7 or S9). Both take a few minutes.
The station and square are busy at all hours. As in any crowded place, keep bags closed and phones and wallets out of back pockets.
Through station on Alexanderplatz in Mitte, at the foot of the Berlin TV Tower. It opened in 1882 on the Stadtbahn viaduct.
Alexanderplatz is one of Berlin's busiest transport hubs: regional trains and the east–west S-Bahn lines stop on the viaduct, three U-Bahn lines meet underneath, and many tram and bus routes start or stop on the square.
The TV Tower, the World Clock, the Alexa shopping centre and the Nikolaiviertel are all a few minutes' walk away, and Museum Island is about ten minutes on foot.
Construction until 12 December 2026: no regional trains stop at Alexanderplatz (tracks 1 and 2 are closed). The S-Bahn and U-Bahn run as usual.
