Platform Guide & Layout
Cuenca-Fernando Zóbel is a modern, straightforward high-speed rail station that serves as a key connection point on the Madrid–Levante high-speed network. Unlike massive urban hubs, this facility features a simple, compact layout with only two main platforms. Because the station is a through-station—meaning trains pass through rather than terminating here—the platform arrangement is intuitive and highly accessible for first-time visitors.
Think of the station layout as a single, linear transit space. There are no complex levels or confusing wing designations to navigate. The two platforms are positioned parallel to each other, serving the high-speed tracks that connect major destinations like Madrid, Valencia, Alicante, and Barcelona. Since there are only two platforms, you do not need to worry about long walking times or complex transfers; even with heavy luggage, the walk from the station entrance to either platform takes only a few minutes.
When you arrive, you will find the station signage clearly marked in both Spanish and English. The ticketing area, waiting rooms, and station amenities are centrally located, providing direct access to the platforms. If you have any mobility concerns, the station is fully modern and equipped with elevators and ramps to ensure a seamless transition from the concourse to the train boarding area.
The primary point of confusion for some travelers is the station's location rather than its layout; it is situated approximately five kilometers outside of the Cuenca city center. When planning your journey, ensure you allow extra time for the shuttle bus (Line L10) or a taxi ride to reach the historical city center after your train arrives. Because the station is relatively small and quiet, you will find it very easy to locate your departure platform shortly before your train's scheduled arrival. Simply check the digital departure boards in the main hall upon arrival, which will indicate the platform number for your specific service. With its efficient design and clear signage, you can navigate this station with confidence, even on your very first visit.
