Odesa-Holovna is the city’s central railway hub, located at Pryvokzalna Square. Please note that civilian flights to Odesa International Airport (ODS) are currently suspended. Most international travelers now arrive via land routes from neighboring countries (often via bus or train from Chisinau, Moldova).

Welcome to Odesa-Holovna, the primary gateway to Odesa. As a first-time visitor, you will find this station’s layout remarkably straightforward. Unlike complex, multi-level transit hubs, Odesa-Holovna is a classic terminus station, meaning it is a "dead-end" where all tracks terminate at the station building. Think of it as a single, expansive row where your train will arrive directly at the station platform, making it very easy to disembark and walk straight into the main concourse.
The station operates with a single-level layout. All passenger platforms are situated on the ground level, directly accessible from the main station building. Because it is a terminus, there is no need to worry about navigating stairs, elevators, or different levels to find your connecting train. You will find that the station is compact enough that even with heavy luggage, you can traverse from the most distant platform to the main entrance in just 5 to 7 minutes.
Regarding navigation, the platform numbering is sequential and clearly marked. As you exit your train, simply follow the signs toward the main hall to find the exit, ticket offices, and the tourist information center. Since the Black Sea port is a major destination, you will find that local tram and trolleybus connections are conveniently located just outside the station exit on Pryvokzalna Square. Specifically, trolleybus route 10 provides a direct link to the seaport area.
The most common point of confusion for newcomers is the bustling nature of the station, especially during peak travel times. The station can feel chaotic, so if you are arriving for the first time, stay focused on the clear signage leading to the main hall. Do not worry about "upper" or "lower" platforms, as these do not exist here. If you need assistance with luggage or directions, the main hall is your central hub for information. By keeping this "dead-end" mental map in mind—where everything converges at the main building—you will find navigating Odesa-Holovna to be a simple and stress-free start to your visit.
Navigating Odesa-Holovna can feel overwhelming, but a little preparation goes a long way. I wish someone had told me these specifics before my first visit.
